On the eve of the anniversary, a new, permanent memorial dedicated to Diogo and André was unveiled on '97 Avenue' near Anfield.

Club representatives, fans, and visitors are laying flowers and paying their respects at the poignant sculpture and within the stadium itself in their honor.

Yesterday, the Portuguese national team also honored Diogo Jota following their victory over Croatia in the World Cup Round of 16. After the final whistle, Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored the opening goal for the 'Navigators' in the match, donned Jota's number 21 jersey. With tears in his eyes, he pointed skyward as he reunited with his teammates at the center of the pitch.
