Allegations of assault made against boxer Amir Khan were withdrawn on Monday, police said.

The British former world champion, 27, had been arrested on suspicion of assault of two teenagers in Bolton on Friday.

Khan was questioned for several hours before being released on bail.

On Monday, Greater Manchester Police confirmed the withdrawal of the allegations.

"No further action will be taken against a 27-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of assault following reports of an assault on Russell Street in Bolton on Friday July 4," police said.
