Chelsea are plotting a move to sign Arsenal midfielder Martin Zubimendi during the winter transfer window, according to El Nacional. The London club are prepared to offer €70 million for the 27-year-old. Zubimendi has reportedly given his initial green light to the switch, though Chelsea have yet to reach an agreement with Arsenal.
The Spaniard is being lined up as a replacement for Enzo Fernandez, who completed a deadline-day switch from Chelsea to Manchester City in the summer. Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso knows Zubimendi well from their time together with Real Sociedad's B team.
The Spain international is eager to leave Arsenal this winter due to a lack of playing time. Spanish media previously reported interest in him from Real Madrid during the summer.
Zubimendi joined Arsenal in July 2025 on a deal running until the summer of 2030. This season, the midfielder has registered one assist in eight appearances across all competitions.
