Alexander the Great: Volkanovski Crushes Undefeated Russian to Defend Belt and Make UFC History
Even though the Russian challenger entered the Octagon with a flawless 20-0 record, he had no answers for Volkanovski. As for the champion, he once again lived up to his "Alexander the Great" moniker—a nod to his Macedonian father and Greek mother...
Evloev repeatedly tried to take the fight to the mat, looking to operate on familiar territory, but Volkanovski defended resolutely. Toward the end of the second round, the champion went on the offensive, landing a crisp one-two combination that sent his rival crashing to the canvas before finishing him off with a barrage of ground-and-pound to force the stoppage.
With this victory, Volkanovski logged his ninth successful title defense, surpassing the legendary Jose Aldo to become the most decorated champion in UFC featherweight history.
It is also worth noting that Volkanovski is already 38 years old. It comes as no surprise why they call him "Alexander the Great."
