Throughout the entire distance of the German circuit, the Gresini Ducati rider closely trailed his older brother, Marc. However, he couldn't get close enough to challenge him for the top spot, crossing the finish line less than 0.4 seconds behind the world champion.
"I was giving my all on every lap, through every corner. I was just trying to survive because it was incredibly slippery. Regardless, I delivered my best possible ride today. In my current physical condition, I can't take all the risks. Until I'm 100%, I need to ride a bit more conservatively; I'm still a little stiff. The race itself was very good. I finished second behind Marc. I was right behind him the whole time. Towards the end, I was pushing him, so I'm pleased. This is the result I needed after the crash in Montmeló," said the younger Marquez brother.
