Williams driver Alex Albon topped the track limits violations during Free Practice 1 for the United States Grand Prix, crossing beyond the blue lines a total of 10 times. His unwanted record left him without a representative lap time in the session, as every single one of his laps was deleted. In total, the stewards scrubbed 17 lap times during the 60-minute session.
Albon and team-mate Carlos Sainz sat out most of the opening session, and once they took to the circuit, both struggled with the handling of their cars on corner exits as well as under heavy braking into Turn 1 at the end of the start-finish straight.
Valtteri Bottas was the only driver who did not violate track limits a single time, while Nico Hülkenberg ranked just behind Albon after exceeding track limits eight times.
Gabriel Bortoleto, Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris, and George Russell recorded five violations each. Meanwhile, Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Oliver Bearman, Pierre Gasly, Isack Hadjar, Lewis Hamilton, and Carlos Sainz picked up four each.
Franco Colapinto, Colton Herta, and Lance Stroll had three offences apiece, while Arvid Lindblad and Esteban Ocon picked up two.
Closest to matching Bottas' clean sheet were Fernando Alonso, Liam Lawson, Oscar Piastri, and Max Verstappen, who were penalised just once each for running off track.
