Ahead of the Aragon Grand Prix at the end of August, the Trackhouse Aprilia team announced that Ogura had sustained a left thumb injury while training motocross in his home country. Consequently, he sat out the race weekend at MotorLand Aragon and also missed the San Marino Grand Prix a week prior.
However, the Japanese rider now intends to return to the starting grid at the Austrian Grand Prix. For this to happen, he will need to successfully pass the mandatory medical examination by MotoGP doctors on Thursday, which is widely expected.
