5 reasons to watch the action film
“A Soldier’s Story” recently premiered in Lagos on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at the Genesis Deluxe Cinemas in Lekki, Lagos.
The new action film is the first release of a trilogy. Pulse Nigeria presents 5 reasons why you need to watch this story of love and bravery.
The plot
The storyline of this film is engaging – packed with suspense and mystery. “A Soldier’s Story” is about a newly wedded Nigeria soldier, Major Egan who goes on a peacekeeping mission in Wazts Republic.
During his mission he gets injured and loses his memory. A local medical doctor and scavenger from Bossangua called Regina rescues him and hides him from rebels. As she nurses him back to health, the two start to fall for each other.
The twist and turns in the movie make you question the minds of the film writer Frankie Ogar and producer Martin Gbados.
The ‘Wazts Republic’ accent
‘Wazts Republic’ is a fictional country created by Ogar. The accents of the Bossangua town people are super sexy. The inflection of their vocal tones bear a resemblance to a combination of Australian, East African and Southern African accents. Angela (played by Zainab Balogun) has the best accent of all the town folk.
Linda Ejiofor
Linda Ejiofor wins our hearts with her role as Regina. Her interpretation of this role is executed brilliantly.
The stunts
When last did you watch a Nollywood movie packed with stunts? This film is packed with combat, explosions, stunts, gun power and all kinds of action. Who knew Tope Tedela doubled as an action man? The film sees him performing all kinds of physical combat and stunts.
There’s a fight scene between Major Egan and Bossman, which is probably one of the best fight scenes Nollywood has seen all year.
Daniel K. Daniel
Daniel K. Daniel plays the role the leader of the war rebels called Bossman in the movie. His grasp of the badman role is outstanding.
The Makeup
The makeup in the film is foolproof. Quite gruesome (as you would expect war injuries to look like).
The film makes it’s cinema debut on Friday, October 23, 2015. Watch the trailer below:
