A New Era for French Football Begins: Kylian Mbappé on Zidane's Arrival – "It Feels Like a Movie"

French footballer Kylian Mbappé admits to feeling "like he's in a movie" at times under new national team coach Zinedine Zidane. The former Real Madrid manager will lead "Les Bleus" for the first time on Friday, having taken over from Didier Deschamps in July.

Mbappe first met Zidane during his time at the Real Madrid academy. "He was the one who first took me to Real's training complex. It was a long time ago, I was 13 or 14. Now he's my national team coach. It's like a scene from a movie, but it's great and it's really happening," the 27-year-old striker told Spanish newspaper AS about his Real Madrid trial.

France kicks off a new cycle with four Nations League matches. They will first play away in Turkey and Belgium, then host Italy, followed by a home return fixture against Belgium. Deschamps' last tournament in charge ended in disappointment, as the two-time world champions fell 2-0 to Spain in the World Cup semi-finals.

"We're starting a new process with the national team. We have two years to prepare for the European Championship. A new era awaits us under a new coach. It will be a change for us, as until now we've only known Deschamps. But I believe it will be fine," stated Mbappe, who has started the season with eight goals in eight games.
