A Major NBA Injustice Corrected: Legend's Jersey to be Retired Over a Decade Late!
Minnesota has confirmed that Kevin Garnett will appear at the Target Center on April 12th to greet fans during the final regular-season game. His jersey will officially be retired to the rafters of the arena next season.
Earlier this season, the new club owners announced Garnett's return as an ambassador, ending a decade of strained relations stemming from former franchise owner Glen Taylor's refusal to retire Garnett's jersey.
I can't wait to come home. I've spoken with Marc and Alex (club owners, editor's note) and you can feel the difference in our relationship. The energy they bring is genuine, they have a true vision, they're building something that will last, and the team on the court has a hunger for wins. Let's go, Minnesota! Kevin Garnett
Club Legend
Garnett played for Minnesota from 1995 to 2007, accumulating 19,201 points, 10,718 rebounds, 4,216 assists, 1,315 steals, and 1,590 blocks in 970 games.
He is the only player to lead a single club in all those statistical categories.
After leaving Minnesota, Garnett won a championship with the Boston Celtics in 2008, who retired his number 5 jersey in 2022. He returned to the Wolves in 2015 before retiring in 2016.
Garnett was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2020 and was a 15-time All-Star.
