With this decisive victory in Tuesday night's Game 5 of the first-round playoff series, the Spurs maintained maximum focus from start to finish, eliminating their rivals from further competition.
De'Aaron Fox led the scoring with 21 points, Julian Champagnie added 19, while rookie Dillon Harper contributed 17 points for the Texas-based squad, which at one point held a commanding 28-point lead. With this, their third consecutive win, San Antonio has punched its ticket to the second round.
The Spurs have advanced to the Western Conference Semifinals for the first time since 2017. That season, they eliminated the Houston Rockets before Kawhi Leonard's ankle injury altered their trajectory, ultimately leading to a loss against the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Finals.
San Antonio will face the winner of the Denver Nuggets versus Minnesota Timberwolves series in the next round. The Timberwolves currently hold a 3-2 lead in that series, with Game 6 scheduled for Thursday, American time.
