Bulgarian Formula 2 driver Nikola Tsolov holds a 7-point lead heading into the double-header in Baku, which is likely to be the final round of the 2026 season.

Tsolov's main rivals, Rafael Camara and Gabriele Minì, scored 4 and 6 points respectively in Madrid, where the Bulgarian failed to score. Ahead of Baku, Tsolov leads with 177 points, followed by Camara with 170 and Minì with 153.

However, the double-header in Azerbaijan offers a decisive opportunity in the title fight, with a driver able to score a maximum of 67 points from two feature races and one sprint race.

The sprint race offers fewer points, with 10 for a win down to 1 for eighth place. An additional point is awarded for the fastest lap. As is customary, the grid for this race is reversed, meaning the winner of the first qualifying session starts tenth, while the tenth-placed driver takes pole position for Friday's sprint.

The feature races on Friday and Saturday award the full points allocation, from 25 for the winner down to 1 for tenth place. Additionally, 2 points are awarded for pole position in each of the two qualifying sessions and 2 points for the fastest lap in each of the two main races.

This sets the stage for the biggest battle of the Formula 2 season, with the most points available in a single weekend.

The Azerbaijan Grand Prix will run from Thursday to Saturday, with the race weekend kicking off with a free practice session at 9:00 AM our time on Thursday.
