The All Progressives Congress (APC) conducted its governorship primaries for Lagos State yesterday, December 4, and 51-year-old Akinwunmi Ambode emerged winner.

Ambode, a former Accountant-General, won a landslide victory after garnering 3,735 of the 5,793 votes.
The victorious candidate defeated 12 others to secure the APC’s ticket. The full results are as follows:
- Akinwunmi Ambode: 3,735 votes
- Obafemi Hamzat: 1201 votes
- Ganiyu Solomon: 272 votes
- Adeyemi Ikuforiji: 182 votes
- Olasupo Shasore: 121 votes
- Leke Pitan: 112 votes
- Tola Kasali: 69 votes.
- Tayo Ayinde: 17 votes
- Adekunle Disu: 9 votes
- Tokunbo Wahab: 7 votes
- Tokunbo Agbesowa: 0 votes
- Abayomi Sote: 0 votes
- Lanre Ope: 0 votes
Ambode has been pegged as the candidate chosen by former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu to succeed the incumbent Governor Babatunde Fashola.
