Akinwunmi Ambode has officially declared his intention to run in the 2015 governorship elections in Lagos.

Ambode, a former Accountant-General of the state, made the declaration during a ceremony at the Onikan Stadium on Friday, October 24.

In declaring his intention, he said:

“… I, Akinwunmi Ambode, in your presence and in the presence of God, formally put myself forward to run for the position of the governor of Lagos state.”

“I make this declaration with the highest sense of responsibility. I am putting myself forward because I believe I have the qualities required to continue the giant strides, which our great party, All Progressives Congress has achieved in Lagos in recent years.”

“Lagos is my state and you are my people. I shall work to serve you. I shall never do less. Here and now, I dedicate myself to this task. I shall not flinch nor lose focus.”

“Our message is LAGOS.  LAGOS is Leadership, LAGOS is Accountability, LAGOS is Good Governance, LAGOS is Opportunities and LAGOS is Service. This is what I stand for.”

The governorship aspirant, who will be contesting on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), also promised to build on the work of outgoing Governor, Babatunde Fashola.
