This event marked only the second competitive outing for Soraya, who was navigating for Germán Romano, behind the wheel of a BMW 325.

The accident occurred during the second pass of the "Mazucu" stage, just over a kilometer from the start. According to Spanish media reports, Romano and Soraya's car veered off the road before catching fire. Soraya perished in the blaze.

Romano managed to escape the burning vehicle and is believed to have sustained no serious injuries, though he was transported to a hospital for further examination.

Immediately following the incident, rally organizers halted the competition. Subsequently, all other teams observed a minute of silence in memory of Soraya (pictured).
