19-Year-Old Cooper Flagg Drops 97 Points in Two Nights, Outshines LeBron James
Projected as the first overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, Cooper Flagg continues to be a standout performer for the struggling Dallas Mavericks. In their latest game, he was the top scorer in a 134-128 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.
The 19-year-old, at 105 days old, nearly achieved a triple-double with 46 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds. His performance helped the Mavericks snap their worst home losing streak in 32 years, which had stretched to 14 consecutive defeats.
LeBron James contributed 30 points, 15 assists, and nine rebounds for the Lakers. However, without the injured Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, Los Angeles held the lead for a mere 13 seconds.
Present and Future
Flagg's impressive outing came just one day after he rewrote NBA history by scoring 51 points in the Mavs' 127-138 loss to the Orlando Magic. This made him the first teenager in NBA history to score 50 or more points in a single game.
Combining that performance with his latest against the Lakers, Flagg also becomes the first rookie to record back-to-back games with over 40 points since Allen Iverson in the 1996-97 season.
The Mavericks currently sit in 12th place in the Western Conference with a 25-53 record. They will close out the regular season with three road games against the LA Clippers, Phoenix Suns, and San Antonio Spurs, followed by their final home game against the Chicago Bulls.
