Throughout the fight, Hawkit showcased excellent mobility and a diverse arsenal, attempting spinning kicks in the opening seconds that surprised both the audience and his opponent. Lewis patiently waited for his chance to land a heavy right hand, but it was Hawkit who found his mark first. Shortly after the midway point of the round, Hawkit took Derrick Lewis to the ground. What followed was a relentless offensive from the younger fighter. Hawkit secured a dominant position and rained down heavy ground and pound strikes on the veteran. Lewis was bloodied and appeared on the verge of defeat. Hawkit then attempted an armbar submission, but without success, and "The Black Beast" survived.

In the second round, Lewis attempted to turn the tide of the fight, starting more aggressively. He successfully defended a takedown attempt and exchanged several heavy blows with his opponent, but it gradually became clear that the damage sustained in the first round was taking its toll. Hawkit continued to land combinations of straight punches and pressured Lewis against the cage. After a series of accurate combinations and a heavy elbow in the clinch, Lewis was significantly hurt and struggled to defend himself. Hawkit sensed the end and intensified his pressure. Another flurry of strikes followed, finally breaking the resistance of the former title contender, and the referee stopped the contest.

With this impressive victory, Hawkit makes a significant leap forward in the heavyweight division and sends a strong message to other contenders. Immediately after the fight, he challenged Alex Pereira.
