Police arrest Ansaru militants who attacked Emir of Potiskum in Kaduna

Some members of the new terrorist group, Ansarul Muslimeen that recently attacked the Emir of Potiskum, Umaru Bubaram in Kaduna state have been arrested.

Frank Mba, police spokesman disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, February 9, 2020.

The police gave the names of the suspects as Munkailu Isah (32yrs), Abdullahi Saminu (21yrs) and Aminu Usman (22yrs).

Mba added that eight suspected militants have so far been arrested over the attack on the Emir.

According to him, investigation revealed that the suspects were involved in the attack on the monarch in January 2020.

He said the suspects are helping the police with useful information regarding “the membership spread and make-up, criminal/operational records, logistics and general modus operandi of the terror group”.

The police also said the suspects were involved in several other kidnap operations and attacks on commuters on major highways in the north-west and north-central states.

Mba also disclosed that some citizens support the terrorists “by deliberately doing businesses with them through the supply of essential goods, drugs and other services”.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, the police raided the terrorists’ camp in Kuduru forest, Birnin-Gwari, Kaduna state claiming they killed “250 terrorists.”
