After cooking, do you instinctively fill the dirty pot with water? Many people do.

Thanks to this, food remains do not dry out and it is easier to clean the dish later. There is also the other side of the coin — this habit is not as good as it may seem.

What can be wrong with pouring water into pots? This seemingly innocent activity that makes life easier can also cause considerable harm. Sometimes it is better to wait some time after cooking. The reason may surprise you.

The point is not that instead of pouring water into it, you should wash the vessel immediately. Nor about the fact that various microorganisms accumulate and grow in a vessel with warm water and food remains. This is of course true, but there is another reason why you should not do this.

A hot pot filled with cold water is exposed to a sudden change in temperature. This thermal shock may damage the surface. Do your older pots seem to "jounce" on the stove and don't lie perfectly flat on the stove? The reason could be pouring cold water over them immediately after cooking.

Metals naturally expand slightly when heated and then gradually return to their original form. This process should not be disturbed by rapid cooling of the dishes. Due to the highest temperature when preparing meals, this problem is most visible in the case of frying pans, but it also applies to pots.

Heated pots must not be rapidly cooled with cold water. The surface of the cookware may warp and begin to crack. The bottom will become uneven and instead of lying flat, it will wobble on the stovetop. As a result, your food will be heated unevenly. This may result in local burning or undercooking.

Cleaning glasses after tea or juice or washing plates after sandwiches is not difficult. You just have to do it, but it goes quite quickly and smoothly. The situation is much worse with cutlery and plates after dinner. And the real nightmare is the frying pan in which it was fried. Greasy dishes with stuck-on food residues are quite a challenge.

Soaking and scrubbing hard is effective, but takes a lot of time. You can make the task a little easier. To do this, just use... coffee grounds. This is not a joke. The grains work like small brushes and deal with food remains very well. They will also make it easier to get rid of fat from the surface.

Add a little water to the cup with grounds to obtain a liquid consistency and add washing-up liquid. With this mixture you can quickly and effectively clean cutlery, plates, pots and pans. Importantly, the grains are so soft and delicate that they will damage the dishes, which could happen in the case of a sharp scourer or hard brushes.
