Ghana Web reports that the suspect also gave the girl a cocktail of painkiller drugs after each act, causing her kidneys to fail.

Family sources told Web that the young girl was living with the suspect's father and he took advantage of her innocence to sexually abuse her.

He was said to have warned the girl not to reveal his sexual encounters with her to anyone or else she would die.

Multiple lab tests conducted on the girl revealed damages on her anus, intestines, and kidneys.

"It isn’t the rape only that caused the death of the innocent girl… he has been giving the little girl about 7/8 tablets of paracetamol after every act for a period of 3 years and that resulted in kidneys’ damage. I wept when I heard the news on Wednesday. Very sad!"

The police spokesman said investigations into the incident has begun in earnest and the suspect would be charged to court as soon as they are done with it.
