Frenchman Frederic Desnard, 44, reportedly claims that for the four years he had worked with his former employer, he had been expected to carry out "too menial" tasks which were a "descent into hell".

Desnard reportedly adds that, as a result of his boring job, he was left "depressed, destroyed and ashamed" and forced to resign.

Desnard's employment tribunal case is reportedly the first ever legal claim in France for which its media has coined the term 'bore out', which could be interpreted as the opposite of 'burn out'.

The prosecutor goes on to claim that, immediately after he had been hired as a manager the company called, Interparfums, a perfume company in Paris, he had found himself stripped of his responsibilities so much so that he was left feeling like he "didn't exist".

Speaking with France's BFM television, Desnard said:

"I left for work each day with a desperate, sinking feeling. Then when I arrived I would often break down in tears," he continued. "But no one noticed because no one really cared whether I was there or not.

"I was left depressed and ashamed of being paid for doing nothing."

The reports reveal that the lawyer representing Interparfums, Jean-Philippe Benissan, had replied the claims, saying:

"Mr Desnard never said anything about being bored during the four-year period. And if he actually had nothing to do over all these years, why didn't he mention it?"

It is unclear if Desnard had won the case against Interparfums or not.
