A suspected kidnapper and murderer have been arrested by the Benue State Police for his alleged involvement in the killing of Rev. Fr. John Adeyi, the Vicar General of the Catholic Diocese of Otukpo.

More effort is being made by the police to apprehend other members of the abduction group, according to the Benue State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Paul Okafor.

Adeyi was abducted on April 10, 2016, at Odoba Village, along the Otukpo-Enugu Road. He was on his way to mediate over a dispute, report says.

A ransom of N2 million was demanded by his abductors for his release, which his family paid.

This however did not save him from being killed by the criminals, after the sum was released to them.

His corpse was found on June 22, 2016, in his hometown of Otukpa, according to Punch.

Speaking concerning the arrest of the murder suspect, Okafor said police investigations in the case led to the arrest.

He mentioned that he would comment more on the matter as soon he gets more information.

“We conducted our investigations and got a suspect arrested. I want to get more details before I comment on the case”, the CP said.
