Two police officers reportedly killed in shootout with gunmen

Two police officers have been reported dead and another two injured in a shootout with unknown gunmen in Rivers state.

A source revealed that two other mobile police officers sustained bullet wounds during the shootout with the criminals at a construction site along Ikiri Road in the state.

A witness at the site, Engineer Uche Isiodu disclosed his harrowing experiences to Daily Post via a telephone interview.

“When we were inside, we started hearing sporadic gunshots so all of us began to run. So we now ran into a nearby bush. After some time, we came and heard that some two MOPOL were gunned-down and they took their guns.

“We also found that two other MOPOLs were wounded and the rest ran away.”

When contacted, the Rivers state Police Command seemingly aware of the incident as the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Nnamdi Omoni made assurances that the Divisional Police Officer at Omoku will send in a report on the shootout.
