Police recovers caches of arms in Festac

Caches of weapons have reportedly been discovered by the police in the Festac area of Lagos state.

The disclosure was made by the state Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni during his weekly briefing, Premium Times reports.

Owoseni said that the recovery was made at 6th Avenue, stating that two AK 47 Riffles, 24 AK 47 fully loaded magazines, one Browning Pistol and magazine were among the ammunition recovered.

According to the commissioner, other arms recovered include 951 ammunition of 752 mm size and 1,107 ammunition of 6mm size.

Owoseni added that a detailed investigation to ascertain those behind the stockpile is currently being carried out by the police.

As touching any arrests made in the course of the case, Premium Times reports that the CP declined to make any comment but disclosed that 28 robbery suspects and two kidnap suspects were apprehended in the last two weeks.

The weapons recovered from the suspects include ‎16 different types of guns, 24 AK 47 magazines, one pistol, 1, 083 ammunition, three cutlasses and 10 vehicles.
