Dad of Corps member who died in motor accident shares his misery

The father of the Youth Corps member who lost her life in an accident on her way to her base in Sokoto State says he had a premonition of her death.

The late Temitope Balqis

The father of Temitope Balqis Omolabake Lamina, the 21-year-old National Youth Coprs member who lost her life in a ghastly motor accident on October 26, on her way to Sokoto State to serve her nation, Lateef Lamina, has continued to feel the pains of losing such a promising child in the way she died.

Lamina, a staff of New Telegraph Newspaper, is yet to come to terms with the demise of his daughter though he says he had a premonition that his beloved daughter was destined to die young.

The corpse of the vibrant lady was brought back to the family's Ijoko-Ota, Ogun State home for burial amidst tears and wailings on Tuesday, October 28 but her father who tried valiantlky not to cry, could not hold back his tears and sorrow.

“I still vividly recalled the last time I saw her. She was returning to her post in Sokoto. I took her to Iddo Park last Sunday. I remembered looking at the Sienna car she boarded.

For reasons I couldn’t fathom, I felt uneasy. I asked one of the conductors at the park if he was sure the Sienna car wouldn’t have an accident on the way.

I bid her farewell. But I was later awoken that night by a caller, who told me that my daughter had died in an accident and was in the mortuary.”

Tope was a Mass Communication graduate of the University of Benin, Edo State and had come to Lagos from her base to attend her mother’s reception after coming back from the recent Hajj in Mecca.
