In this interview with Pulse, Fresh L details the experiences that birthed the EP, working with Davido and the forthcoming DRB reunion project.

''S.U.N.S is a series of experiences I was going through last summer with different girls,'' he stated, ''So I just decided to write about it.''

Initially, I recorded about 11 songs, I stuck to seven after like a long time and then brought it down to five, but basically, I wanted to put like a different side to me out there and be extremely vulnerable, experimenting with RnB sounds,''

I kept it at five tracks because S.U.N.S 2 is coming out early next year, so I wanted to just give my fans this one for now, then come back again with a bigger project.''

He speaks further on incorporating the singing side to his artistry which was prevalent on the project, ''I have always been a singer, I just started understanding my sound a little bit more, I basically grew up on like RnB music from the early 2000s and late 90s.''

''I am just embracing love through different situations'', he says on the message behind the project.

The lead single from the EP, 'Firewood' features one of Africa's leading pop stars in Davido, putting his music in greater showcase and he discusses working with him.

''I have known him (Davido) for like 10 years, even before the music. We were in London one time, I actually wanted him to be on 'Feeling You', and he was like 'No, let's do Firewood instead', then hooked us with the beat.

We recorded it in a hotel in London and then came back to Lagos to do it properly in the studios, shot like two videos, which will be out soon.

It was amazing working with him, he is very hardworking and one of the most talented people in the industry.''

As regards his music, Fresh L knows best and is extremely confident of the output, ''I think it is actually the best, 100%,'' he boasts of the project which took him a year to complete, ''Just my lyrics, from a writer's perspective, the production is incredible, the melodies, everything about it is actually amazing, there is no skippable song on the EP.''

On his favourite record on the EP, he settles for 'Call Back' even though 'Ride With Me', a song that has multiple versions was the spark that ignited the theme of the project.

DRB Lasgidi is a group created a decade ago, that features Fresh L alongside BOJ and TeeZee. In 2012, they released the DJ Caise produced single, 'Toyin', which became an instant hit especially among the new wave of young listeners and he affirms that a comeback is in the works.

''We are working on like the greatest comeback ever, this is the 10th year of DRB, I feel like we became mainstream in 2012, and we had a very crazy run, but I feel like we were so ahead of our years, that we were really not ready, so we took a two year break, but we coming back.

Our EP is called ' and it is coming out real soon.''

He appreciates how being a member of DRB helped him become a fully formed artist, ''I was used to just doing verses on songs, now I have to take my time to create my own hooks, even the beat making, so it was definitely quite challenging, but it has helped me in thinking on concepts.''

Fresh L has had his fair share of controversial moments especially on social media and he explains, ''I feel like Fresh L of DRB gets way more doors open than Fresh L by himself. I know I have not really proven myself as a solo artist, but I hate how everything is being taken because when it comes to Fresh L as an artist, I am definitely one of the best to ever do it, but yeah people definitely like you when you are the underdog, so I get.''

He then clarifies his unhappiness at being tagged an alternative artist, ''I am not, I am a rapper and I sing and I feel like because of the DRB affiliation, they try to call us all alternative artists, but I am not. The term 'alte' really came from how you dress and a lifestyle, people trying to make it like a genre, but it is not.''

The video for 'Feeling You' has been released, with that of 'Firewood' due to follow in the coming weeks and he reveals that the fans should expect some remixes off the EP and a DRB concert later in the year.
