‘The editors didn’t do their job’ - Nikki Samonas reacts to her steamy sex scene with Jim Iyke

Ghanaian actress Nikki Samonas has reacted to her controversial sex scene in “My First Wife” with Nigerian actor and producer Jim Iyke.

Jim Iyke and Nikki Samonas scene in My First Wife

The 2015 drama feature is known for its controversial and erotic scene featuring Jim Iyke and Nikki Samonas.

According to Nikki, the scene wasn’t supposed to make the cut, but the editors didn’t live up to the task, allowing it to enter the market.

Explaining her relationship with Jim, Nikki told Abeiku Santana on UTV’s “United Showbiz” over the weekend that she still doesn’t have direct contact with the Nigerian actor, and before their appearance in the film, she dealt with his personal assistant.

“There were plain rules, it was strictly business,” she said. “Jim Iyke is not my friend, I don't even have his phone number.”

Nikki said she landed the role when Jim Iyke came to Ghana for a film shoot and was impressed by her talent.

“He came to shoot a film in Ghana and invited me and Yvonne Nelson. When he saw my acting skills, he was impressed. He invited me to Nigeria to shoot the film. It was his production. I didn't have his number then, it was his [personal] assistant that was dealing with me from day one.”

She continued: “When I got there [Nigeria], I did my job. The film included romantic scenes. It was a straightforward film. It was me, Jim Iyke and Rita Dominic. I was on set for about five days. We shot three takes on that scene.”

Nikki said she didn’t understand the fuzz about the scene but acknowledged that every new thing attracts attention, adding that the editors should be blamed for the poor job.

“I don't understand why you are revisiting this film because it's been a long time. It was the first of its kind. And every new thing gains attraction. There were some scenes that weren't supposed to make the cut. The editing bench didn't do their job.”
