ASUU president gives conditions to suspend strike
ASUU wants the FG to implement the agreement it signed in 2017 and also change the leader of the negotiating team.
The union's president stated the conditions during an interview with Premium Times on Sunday, November 25, 2018.
Ogunyemi said one of the conditions for the suspension of the strike is the ''full implementation of the Memorandum of Action (MoA) the two parties willingly signed in October 2017”
He added that the MoA must be fully implemented before the union can talk about suspending the strike.
He said, ''the MoA must be implemented fully before we can even talk of suspension of the strike. If they implement the outstanding issues in the MoA fully and change the leadership of the negotiating team, then we can go back to the negotiation,”
ASUU to meet with FG again
Meanwhile, ASUU is holding another meeting with the Federal Government again on Monday, November 26, 2018.
According to Punch, ASUU-FG meeting would again focus on the issues in the 2017 Memorandum of Action, which the union claimed the Federal Government had neglected.
The last meeting between the lecturers and the government on Thursday, November 15, 2018, ended in deadlock as both parties failed to reach an agreement to call off the strike.
