Los Angeles Lakers win rights for Carlos Boozer

Carlos Boozer will play for the Lakers next season after the Los Angeles franchise were awarded his contract on a partial waiver claim.

Boozer was waived by the Chicago Bulls using the amnesty clause, which presented rival NBA teams with salary-cap space the opportunity to bid for the 32-year-old power forward's rights.

And the Lakers, who recently lost free agent Pau Gasol to the Bulls, have won the silent auction for the two-time NBA All-Star, who spent four years in Chicago.

"Carlos is an established veteran and a proven all-star, who will be a welcome addition to our team," said Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak.

"We're very pleased to have won the bidding process and to have gained his rights, and look forward to his contributions next season."

Boozer, approaching his 13th season in the NBA, started 76 games for the Bulls in 2013-14 - averaging 16.6 points and 9.8 rebounds as the franchise reached the first round of the Eastern Conference play-offs.
