German giants Bayern Munich have reportedly decided against signing much-wanted Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen during this summer transfer window.

Bayern are in the market for a new striker after Polish hotshot Robert Lewandowski confirmed that he would like to leave the reigning German champions this summer.

Osimhen has been touted as one of the likely replacements for Lewandowski at Bayern Munich but Napoli are said to want at least €100m for the striker.

Osimhen not priority for Bayern Munich - Behrenbeck

Sky Sports News reporter Marc Behrenbeck told Reutir that the German club would not consider signing Osimhen due to the high transfer fee quoted by Napoli for the Nigerian forward.

While Behrenbeck admitted that Osimhen's performance during the 2021/22 season and Bayern's need to replace wantaway Lewandowski might suggest the German club would make a move for Osimhen, the Germans are not ready to meet the current valuation of the striker.

Behrenbeck said: “Yes, he (Osimhen) played a great season, is a really good player, but according to our information it is not currently an issue at FC Bayern.

“Yes, Bayern wants to get another No.9, but it’s not Osimhen. In addition, the requested transfer fee is far too high.” €100m or €110m? No, no way.”

Osimhen stats for Napoli 2021/22 season

Osimhen played a total of 32 matches across all competitions for Napoli this season, bagging 18 goals and six (6) assists to finish as Napoli's top scorer despite missing over two months to injury.

Bayern Munich's Lewandowski was also in imperial form this season, netting a whopping 50 goals and seven (7) assists in 45 matches for the German champions across all competitions.

Bayern are set to lose the leading scorer on a cheap fee with Lewandowski's contract at the Allianz Arena running out in June 2023 when he would leave the club for free if he does not secure a move away this summer
