Arsenal, Stoke City congratulate Super Eagles on AFCON 2019 ticket

European sides Arsenal and Stoke City recognised the achievements of their players in qualification for next years AFCON.

The Super Eagles are through to the 2019 AFCON after a 1-1 draw with the Bafana Bafana of South Africa at the FNB Stadium.

Buhle Mkhwanazi put the ball in his own net to give the Super Eagles the lead in the 10th minute, South Africa equalised through Lebo Mothiba in the 26th minute as the game ended 1-1 at full time.

After the game the European sides were quick to praise the Super Eagles and their players for playing a role in picking up the ticket.

Arsenal on Super Eagles

The Gunners took to their official Twitter account to laud Alex Iwobi who played for 90 minutes in the encounter with a lengthy message.

The message said, "Joy for @AlexIwobi!, #BIG17 played 90 minutes as Nigeria claimed a 1-1 draw in South Africa in order to seal qualification for AFCON 2019

Stoke City on Super Eagles

Stoke City midfielder was also celebrated by his club for the roe he played as the Super Eagles picked up the AFCON ticket.

A statement on their website said, "PETER ETEBO played the full 90 minutes as Nigeria guaranteed themselves a spot at the Africa Cup of Nations finals on Saturday afternoon.

"The Potters ace impressed in the heart of midfield as the Super Eagles earned the point they needed in South Africa to secure qualification from Group E."

Iwobi nd Etebo are expected to be in action as Nigeria face the at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba on Tuesday, November 20.
