Govt House security allegedly beats up Channels TV reporter

The reporter was beaten up after he was accused of pointing at a security personnel.

According to a report by The Punch, Salami was assaulted after a security personnel accused the reporter of pointing at him while talking with a female reporter working with Africa Independent Television (AIT).

The security agent was reportedly joined by his colleagues to assault the reporter and detain him in the State House detention center.

According to the report, Salami is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Lokoja, the state capital.

In response to the report, the state's Police Commissioner, Wilson Inalegwu, said, "We take the conduct of our personnel seriously and you can rest assured that no sinner will go unpunished."

When Pulse Nigeria contacted the state governor, Yahaya Bello's Senior Special Assistant on Electronic Media, Gbenga Olorunpomi, for comments, he denied any knowledge of the incident.
