Zaidu Sanusi helps Porto maintain 6-point gap as 27-match unbeaten run continues
Super Eagles left-back Zaidu Sanusi was on hand to help FC Porto nick a 1-0 away victory over Boavista on Sunday night in the Portuguese Primeira Liga.
Fabio Vieira's first-half goal settled the fixture in Porto's favour as the league leaders dominated from start to finish at the Estadio do Bessa XXI in Sunday's late kick-off.
The victory helps Porto continue their unbeaten run of 27 league games and also maintain their six-point lead over nearest challengers Sporting Lisbon.
Sanusi was involved from the start against Boavista, notching his 13th league start of the season.
The 24-year-old was rarely troubled by the Boavista forward line, having to make one (1) interception and one (1) tackle all game.
However, the Porto left-back was routinely beaten to duels, losing seven (7) of the nine (9) he contested during the match.
The Nigerian International hosts his former club, Santa Clara, in the next league match on April 3 after the international break.
Sanusi is expected to join up with the Super Eagles squad for Nigeria's all-important World Cup qualifier against Ghana.
Sanusi is under intense pressure to retain his starting spot under Augustine Eguavoen with high-flying Rangers left-back Calvin Bassey also called up to the 32-man squad to face Ghana.
