Ahead of Spain's 2026 World Cup semi-final clash against France, Lamine Yamal made headlines not just for his words, but for his striking attire. The Spanish player, who celebrated his 19th birthday on Monday, arrived at the press conference sporting a gold necklace adorned with multiple diamond-encrusted chains, an accessory that certainly didn't go unnoticed.

Upon entering the press room, Yamal removed his jacket, revealing the dazzling jewelry that quickly became the focal point and sparked a flurry of comments across social media.

When questioned about the necklace, the player responded: "No, it's not a gift; I paid for it myself."

The piece in question is a bespoke high-jewelry creation. According to the newspaper OK Diario, it's a rose gold necklace, presumably 14 or 18 karats. While it might appear to be a collection of separate chains, it is, in fact, a single cascading choker with four distinct layers. The fourth and final row features a succession of spheres covered in brilliant pavé settings, a common finish in urban jewelry inspired by hip-hop culture and increasingly popular among sports stars.

The designer of the piece remains undisclosed, and consequently, the exact value of the necklace is unknown. However, it's estimated that custom-made pieces of this caliber, crafted from gold and diamonds, could range between 25,000 and 30,000 euros.

This isn't the first time the player's style has garnered attention during this World Cup. Prior to the match against Austria in Los Angeles, the forward had already showcased another diamond necklace, this one featuring the face of the comic book character Batman, leading fans to speculate about its worth.

Regarding his performance in the World Cup, Lamine Yamal has featured in all six matches played by Spain so far, scoring one goal in the 4-0 thrashing of Saudi Arabia during the group stage.
