We Will Not Lose Chamberlain - Hodgson
Roy Hodgson says England midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be fit for the World Cup finals in Brazil.
Speaking after England's lacklustre performance against Honduras, manager Roy Hodgson confirmed that the 20 year-old remains a part of his World Cup plan, assuring that the Arsenal player will make the World Cup.
"I think he will make the tournament without a shadow of a doubt. That's good news," the coach said.
Having lost the opportunity for a win record as they head to the World Cup in Brazil over a 10 man Honduras team after the sending off of defender Brayan Beckeles, Hodgson is confident at the level his squad is shaping up, just before their Group D opener against Italy on June 14.
"Honduras were quite physical and it was one of the most frustrating games I have been involved in for a long time.
"I thought the tempo of our play and effort to score in the second half was commendable. I will take the draw and take the fact we got away without any injuries. We go to Brazil in the right frame of mind.
"It's time for the real thing now," Hodgson said.
England should have won the game with the chances they had against Honduras, but they were being cautious not to get injured a week before the World Cup.
''There were some horrific tackles a week before the World Cup.
"But we have got another 90 minutes under our belts in hot conditions.
"We could have done better but there's a week to go and we will be ready,"Â captain Steven Gerrard confirmed.
