Super Eagles stars Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho had a below-par start to the 2022/23 Premier League season on Sunday when they played hosts to Brentford.

The Foxes welcomed the Bees to the King Power Stadium on Sunday but failed to hold on to a 2-0 lead as Thomas Frank's side came from behind to draw 2-2.

Of the three Super Eagles players included in the Matchday squads by both teams, only Ndidi saw action on Sunday afternoon with Iheanacho and Brentford's Frank Onyeka staying on the bench all through.

Ndidi makes first Premier league appearance since March

After making a full return from injury during pre-season, Ndidi featured in his first Premier League match in almost five months since he last played in the league during a 2-0 loss to Arsenal in mid-March.

The former Genk midfielder was part of a midfield five that also featured Youri Tielemans, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Timothy Castagne, and James Justin.

Ndidi played the entire duration of the match but could not stop Leicester City from squandering a two-goal lead after Castagne (33') and Dewsbury-Hall (46') gave the home side the advantage.

Ivan Toney (62') pulled one back for the visitors before substitute Joshua Dasilva grabbed an 86th-minute equaliser for Brentford to share the spoils.

Ndidi was able to tally only two (2) tackles and one (1) interception all match while he won three (3) of the five (5) ground duels he contested and had one (1) successful dribble attempt.

Zambian forward Patson Daka was preferred to Iheanacho as Rodgers chose to make only one substitution all match against Brentford.

Onyeka continues to be out of favour at Brentford with the Super Eagles star having not seen any club action since March 5, 2022, when he came on as a 59th-minute substitute.

For their next Premier League matches, Leicester City will travel to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, August 13 while Brentford will host Manchester United at the Brentford Community Stadium on the same day.
