Aston Martin's upgrade package for this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix reportedly includes a new gearbox.
The full suite of changes to the AMR26 is anticipated to shave at least two seconds off the car's lap time. Even if that proves overly optimistic, Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll will have a better chance to compete at the front, rather than chasing the pack.
The new transmission aims to mitigate the vibrations that have plagued the team's car since the start of the season. It's expected that by the Zandvoort race, with all planned chassis and gearbox modifications implemented, these issues will be entirely resolved.
Furthermore, the cars will shed the additional components currently used to dampen vibrations, which add unnecessary weight. Most of these are expected to be removed as early as the Hungarian Grand Prix.
