According to Meridian Sport, representatives of all 20 Adriatic League clubs are set to meet with EuroLeague CEO Chus Bueno in Madrid on Thursday.
The focal point of the discussions will undoubtedly revolve around the future of the ABA League, particularly following the recent officiating crisis.
As a reminder, the opening round of the ABA League was postponed after referees demanded salary increases.
Round two games were played as scheduled "following the successful resolution of all matters concerning officiating logistics."
"Significant efforts have been made in recent weeks to find the most suitable solutions to the situation and overcome numerous challenges that unfortunately led to the postponement of Round 1 fixtures in both the ABA League and ABA League 2. However, a new pool of referees was finalized in the shortest possible timeframe, clearing the way for regional competitions to commence. The rescheduled dates and tip-off times for the postponed opening-round games will be announced at a later date," stated the ABA League.
NBA Proposal Rejected!
EuroLeague shareholders have near-unanimously rejected an NBA initiative regarding potential collaboration, deeming the current proposal unacceptable, though some clubs have left room for a revised offer.
Olympiacos was among the first to voice strong opposition to the proposed partnership format. At a meeting held in Como, the vast majority of clubs voted against the agreement, Greek media reported.
Shortly thereafter, reports emerged indicating that the EuroLeague is definitively set to expand to 24 clubs next season, with a follow-up meeting scheduled to take place soon.
