Ebola-Infected Doctor’s Wife, Child Moved To Lagos

According to reports, the wife of the Port Harcourt doctor who died of Ebola has been moved to Lagos for treatment.

Dr.Iyke Enemuo died of the disease on August 22, 2014 after treating an infected ECOWAS diplomat and his wife became symptomatic after.

Mrs. Enemuo and the couple’s 3 month old baby have been quarantined in Lagos after she asked to be moved out of Port Harcourt for “emotional reasons”. According to the Rivers State Health Commissioner, Samson Parker:

“She is also a doctor. Her three-month-old baby is alive and well. The result of the test conducted on her (for Ebola) is not yet out,”

160 people in the state are also being observed after making primary or secondary contact with the deceased.

Dr. Iyke Enemuo is the 5th Nigerian to die of the disease after infected Liberian-American, Patrick Sawyer died on July 25 in Lagos.
