Turks disrupt Partizan's plans: Galatasaray sends lucrative offer to player expected to return to black-and-white fold!

Local media had, just days ago, "returned" Alen Smailagić to Partizan, reporting that a deal was imminent and the Serbian power forward would once again don the black-and-white jersey. However, the situation appears to have taken a complicated turn...

According to well-informed "Eurohoops," Galatasaray has reportedly offered Smailagić a contract worth 1,200,000 euros per season, putting them in the lead for his signature. The same source also indicates that a club from the ACB league is interested in the player, affectionately known as "Smajli."

It's worth recalling that local media recently reported Smailagić's return to Partizan, alongside playmaker Alessandro Pajola from Virtus. The deal was said to be all but done, with only minor details left to be ironed out between the club and the player.

Smailagić played for Partizan from 2021 to 2024 under coach Željko Obradović, before moving to Žalgiris and then Virtus. However, the Italian club decided this summer to terminate his contract, freeing up budget for a team overhaul.

Last season, the Serbian forward averaged 7.4 points and 2.5 rebounds in the EuroLeague for Virtus. The team finished the season without any trophies and failed to reach the EuroLeague playoffs.

VIDEO: Smailagić shocked by Željko's departure, then stated: Duško is a true gentleman!
