“There's probably never been anything like it in terms of an event like that, let alone in soccer or football, whatever you want to call it. I thought it was incredible. This was four times bigger than any FIFA (World Cup - ed. note) ever. In fact, maybe it's five times, they're telling me today. So we're very proud of our country. We're very proud of the job everybody did. We congratulate Gianni Infantino and his entire team for the incredible job they did. It was one of the greatest events of all time,” Trump commented from Joint Base Andrews near Washington.

He was also asked if he was saddened by Argentina's loss in the final, where Spain dominated the entire match and won 1-0 after extra time. “No, I wasn't sad. I think both teams played well. I would say Spain really played better. But both teams played well, they still made it to the final. It was actually quite exciting. Spain seemed to dominate, but the match was very evenly contested,” added the American head of state, who drew widespread ridicule on social media for his behavior during the trophy presentation to “La Furia,” refusing to move aside as captain Rodri lifted the trophy.
