Transfer Market: Sporting Persists for Senegalese Defender, Drops Marítimo Midfielder

Sporting hasn't given up on Djibril Gueye, the 19-year-old Senegalese center-back from Leganés B. The club continues its efforts to bring the 1.95-meter defender to Tiago Fernandes' squad.

The Lions are pursuing a loan deal with an option to buy for Gueye, who impressed during a friendly match this season between the two clubs' reserve teams, with the intention of integrating him into their B team.

However, Nélio Batista, the 17-year-old Marítimo midfielder who was also considered a potential reinforcement for the secondary team, is now out of the picture, A BOLA has learned.
