Time is ticking, the transfer window is closing, and unwanted advances are being made. At Alvalade, Sporting is determined to keep Geny Catamo, who is being heavily pursued by Sunderland. The English club is reportedly preparing a new, improved offer, surpassing their previous bid of €30 million fixed plus €10 million in add-ons, which was already rejected for the 25-year-old winger. Despite this looming threat, Sporting, according to A BOLA, feels confident in the Mozambican's continued presence.

The Lions' management believes that the new figure to be presented will not reach a base of €40 million; it will only hit that mark with performance-related objectives. These numbers are not enough to make the green and white club even consider a sale. Hence, their confidence in Catamo's stay, despite the English club offering him a four-year contract, with an option for a fifth, at a net salary of €3 million per season.

At Alvalade, the Mozambican is considered indispensable for the right side of the attack, with Luis Guilherme as the primary alternative. Catamo is under contract until 2029 and has a release clause set at €60 million.
