Saudi Arabian club Al Qadsiah is reportedly in advanced talks to secure the signing of Manchester City midfielder Tijjani Reijnders. According to The Athletic, discussions between the clubs and with the player are progressing swiftly. Despite the Saudi club's focus on their season opener, there's optimism that a deal could be finalized in the coming days.
The future of the 28-year-old Dutch international has become uncertain just a year after his arrival at the Etihad, particularly following the summer acquisition of Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest. Interestingly, Forest themselves had shown significant interest in the former AC Milan player.
Reijnders joined City in June 2025 for approximately €55 million from AC Milan, signing a contract valid until 2030. This transfer came after a standout season in Italy where he was named Serie A's Midfielder of the Year, scoring 15 goals across all competitions and starting in 63 of Milan's 64 matches.
In his debut season for City, Reijnders featured in 47 games, contributing seven goals and seven assists. However, he started in only half of the team's Premier League fixtures, with then-manager Pep Guardiola often preferring players like Rodri, Bernardo Silva, and Rayan Cherki during the latter half of the season.
The transfer market remains busy for Manchester City. Rodri's future is still uncertain, with Barcelona reportedly pushing for his signature, while Bernardo Silva has already departed on a free transfer to Real Madrid after his contract expired.
To bolster their midfield, City, now under the management of Enzo Maresca, are reportedly interested in Chelsea's Enzo Fernández. Maresca previously worked with the Argentine international during his tenure at Stamford Bridge.
