Henderson joined the Bees a year ago on a free transfer from Ajax. The England international is now set to be unveiled as a Chelsea reinforcement, a move reportedly requested by Xabi Alonso to inject experience into a young Blues squad. According to English media, Brighton's Danny Welbeck is also expected to join his compatriot.

In his farewell statement, the former Liverpool captain expressed his gratitude to the club. "I leave Brentford with immense gratitude for the opportunity the club gave me and for the support and affection shown to me and my family from day one," Henderson stated.

The midfielder emphasized the significance of his return to England's top flight. "Returning to the Premier League was incredibly important to me, and Brentford provided me with that chance. I will always be thankful for it," he added.

Reflecting on his time, Henderson concluded: "I hope I played my part in helping the team during a crucial period for the club. We achieved a lot together last season, and it's something everyone involved should be proud of. Brentford is a special football club. It's ambitious."
