Ruben Amorim's AC Milan has set an ambitious financial target for this transfer window: to raise 150 million euros from player sales, according to Gazzetta dello Sport. The first major departure is expected to be Estupiñán, who is close to joining Aston Villa for around 15 million euros, kicking off an operation aimed at balancing the books after significant investments have already been made.
The need to sell is not only economic but also technical, as the club looks to streamline the squad and offload players who do not fit into the new project. Among those on the transfer list is Rafael Leão, whose price has been set at 60 million euros, although no concrete offers have yet emerged.
The Portuguese international's release clause, valued at 175 million euros, is considered unrealistic by the market. Therefore, the club has set a more pragmatic valuation of 60 million, with his extensive team of representatives working to find an interested club.
Leão has been linked with English clubs such as Tottenham and Manchester United, but without significant progress. An offer from the Arab or Turkish market is seen as more likely, according to the same source, but the player considers these destinations secondary in his career. Barring any changes, Leão will join the team on July 29th in Perth, Australia.
Another complex case is that of Santiago Giménez. Signed just a year and a half ago from Feyenoord for 28.5 million euros plus bonuses, the club needs to recoup at least 21 million to avoid financial losses. His recent ankle injury and the signing of Gonçalo Ramos in his position make his stay difficult, and agent Rafaela Pimenta is tasked with finding him a new club.
Amorim's Probable Milan XI
The midfield will also undergo a restructuring. Fofana, whose characteristics do not align with what Ruben Amorim is looking for, is on the market for 20 million euros. Loftus-Cheek is in a similar situation, although his sale is complicated by the fact that his contract expires in a year. Between him and young Bondo, who is already training separately, Milan hopes to bring in around 15 million euros.
In defense, in addition to the aforementioned departure of Estupiñán for 15 million (the initial request was 20 million), Milan intends to sell Tomori for a similar amount. However, the fact that his contract ends in June 2027 could lead to a reduction in the asking price.
