President Bola Tinubu was initially billed to commission the Gateway Airport at Iperi, Ogun State, from where he will head to Lagos to spend the Easter Good Friday holidays. However, he will now be heading to Lagos from Plateau State.

"I have postponed my trip to Iperu, Ogun State. My first duty at this moment is to stand with the people of Plateau. I will be in Jos to commiserate with families who have lost loved ones and to reaffirm that those who seek to spread fear will not prevail.

We will continue to strengthen our security response and ensure that justice is done. From Plateau, I will proceed to Lagos to observe Good Friday, and then continue with scheduled engagements in Ogun, Lagos, and Bayelsa focused on infrastructure, trade, and economic growth.

In moments of grief, we must stand together. In moments of progress, we must keep building.

The work continues. Nigeria First.

Readers will recall that Pulse Nigeria reported that Gunmen, on Sunday night, 29th March, 2026, attacked the Angwa Rukuba community in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, killing several residents, including students, in a violent assault that triggered outrage, protests, and a government-imposed curfew.

The attack, which happened on Palm Sunday, quickly sparked local and international reactions. Initial reports stated that at least 10 people died in the attack; however, Arise news reported the death toll to be at least 40 in what is one of the bloodiest attacks in a year filled with news of kidnapping and killings across the Northern part of the country.

On April 1, 2026, the Governor of Pleatue state, Mr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, visited Tinubu at the Presidential villa to brief him on the attack in the state.

The families of the victims and the people of Jos will be hoping that the president's visit brings some tangible answers to the issue of insecurity plaguing the state.
