Golf legend makes return at Augusta ahead of Masters

Thousands of Golf lovers were at the Augusta, National Golf Club to see the former champion practice ahead of the major tournament.

Now, 42-years-old Woods is not regarded as one of the favourites to win the Masters as he is currently ranked number 103 in the world.

The veteran golfer, however, showed no signs of rustiness during practice as he was able to eagle the second hole which reminded onlookers of his quality.

Woods is a 14-time major winner and on evidence of his practice session, he could spring a surprise at the tournament.

Woods who has not competed in three of the last four US Masters but is being tipped for glory by former golfer Sir Nick Faldo despite his recent recovery from persistent injuries setbacks.

He said, "He has the potential. His game is amazing. I think he's ahead of schedule. He's been in there competing for the last couple of events. That's the most important thing, you've got to climb that ladder and scare yourself."

"If he really can put a finger on why that one is happening (and) erase that... wow, he will definitely be in there, How he's found five more miles per hour in clubhead speed in his 40s after a fused back is unbelievable," Faldo concluded.

Woods last a major title in 2008 after he defeated Rocco Mediate in a playoff with an injury to his knee and leg.

The tournament is scheduled to start from Thursday, April 5 and will end on Sunday, April 8.
