Tielemans' Slip of the Tongue Angers Aston Villa Fans with United Comparison

Manchester United's summer signing, Youri Tielemans, has apologized to his former club, Aston Villa, for recent comments. The Belgian international described the 'Red Devils' as a club a level above Aston Villa, a remark that did not sit well with 'Villans' supporters.

The 29-year-old midfielder, who recently joined Old Trafford for £35 million, addressed his move. “There are clubs above Aston Villa, and Manchester United is one of them,” Tielemans stated, later apologizing to the Birmingham club's fans for his remarks.

“I never intended for my words to offend anyone. I respect Aston Villa and am grateful for the past three years. However, I must admit my mistake and apologize for my choice of words. I will be more careful in the future,” AFP quoted Tielemans as saying.

The Belgian arrived at the club in 2023 from Leicester and became a key figure in last season's Europa League triumph, scoring in the final against Freiburg (3-0). He could make his Manchester United debut in the opening round of the new Premier League season away to newly promoted Hull City.
