It appears the Haas F1 team will choose between Rafael Camara, Ryo Hirakawa, and reigning Formula 2 champion Leonardo Fornaroli to partner Oliver Bearman for the 2027 Formula 1 season. Currently, Esteban Ocon is the Briton's teammate, but all indications suggest the Frenchman will depart the team at the end of the year.
According to GPblog, Haas is organizing a test with an older car at Portimão this week, in which all three aforementioned drivers will participate. This will serve as an audition for them and could significantly influence the decision of Gene Haas, Ayao Komatsu, and the team.
Logically, Fornaroli has the slimmest chances among the three, as both Camara and Hirakawa have additional factors working in their favor. In Camara's case, it's Ferrari, who has supplied power units to Haas since the American team's debut season in 2016. For Hirakawa, it's about the team's technical partner and main sponsor, Toyota, who would undoubtedly like to see a Japanese driver in a primary seat in one of their sponsored cars.
